IFT 2016 PURISPea and PURISWhole Shine

World Food Processing brings healthy and
convenient to plant-based solutions at IFT16

World Food Processing, leader in non-GMO and organic proteins from seed development to customers’ solution, has leveraged ingredient innovation to create the superior-tasting plant-based finished foods to be featured at IFT16. The company will feature PURISPea™ and PURISWhole™ products and a lineup of applications that prove true cross-functionality.

With continued growth in consumers’ adoption of non-GMO and organic plant-based diets, World Food Processing believes robust supply, constant innovation and great taste will continue to expand the category.  PURISPea brings exciting news to this year’s IFT as a GFSI-approved, SQF Level II operation, and more notably, status as the first FDA GRAS-approved pea protein.

At World Food Processing’s Booth #1604, IFT attendees will sample a diverse menu at the “PURISCafe”, a theme for solutions catering to the on-the-go, health-forward consumer.

BreakFAST: Oatmeal + Protein in three great flavors: Banana Walnut, Raspberry and White Chocolate, and Green Apple. Each delivers 16g of plant-powered protein derived from PURISPea ingredients, including their 60% protein pea crisp toppers.

Lunch: The PURIS Salad Bar will offer an array of greens plus PURIS innovations for a protein-packed salad that is entirely plant-based: from dressing to protein-rich bites and pulse-based cold pasta salads.

  • PURISBites are an update to the classic crouton. Delivering crunch and flavor, these are an excellent addition to salads at 80% protein content and are offered in several great flavors: Bacon, Buffalo + Blue Cheese, and Balsamic with Onion and Rosemary.
  • Three other PURIS innovations will be showcased from the PURISPea and PURISWhole lines: PURISRanch Dressing, “Peannaise” (eggless mayo) and PURISPasta.

“Creating superior-tasting plant-based protein was the main objective for the launch of PURISPea. We felt there were opportunities to create a pea protein that was superior in flavor, cleaner tasting, less bitter and lighter in color,” commented Tyler Lorenzen, president of World Food Processing’s proteins and ingredient subsidiary. PURISPea, meets manufacturers’ requirements for powder blends, extrusion, bar manufacturing and even acidic beverages.

“PURISPea’s consistent quality has led to an impressive lineup of innovation, making a Salad Bar concept a sensible solution to showcase true cross-functionality of our ingredients, alongside uncompromised taste to some classic favorites.”

World Food Processing’s focus is on providing customers with a sustainable supply chain met with clean-tasting ingredients. “Our mission is to foster the ability to design finished-food formulations that brands can champion, so that they may adopt a non-GMO and organic plant-based platform of products,” said Lorenzen.

World Food Processing’s flagship ingredient,
PURISPea, receives GRAS status for its pea protein

World Food Processing, L.L.C., the only USA grown and manufactured pea protein supplier, has announced that it received a “letter of no objection” from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for PURISPea un-hydrolyzed and hydrolyzed pea protein. The “letter of no objection” confirms that the FDA does not have question for the GRAS status of Pea protein through the basis of scientific procedures.

PURISPea is the first pea protein isolate grown and manufactured in the USA. It is known for its unique characteristics and clean, superior flavor. “Achieving GRAS status adds yet another layer of confidence and another advantage for manufacturers who want to create foods and beverages with mass-market appeal,” says Tyler Lorenzen, president of World Food Processing’s proteins and ingredient subsidiary.

The GRAS status confirms that PURISPea is safe for use as a protein source in foods such as bakery products, cereals, snack foods, smoothies, beverages, soups, imitation dairy products, dry instant milk shake mixes and protein drinks, instant powdered nutritional beverages, vegetarian products/meat analogues and meal replacement bars.

“PURISPea checks all the boxes in terms of today’s food trends: It’s clean, non-GMO, devoid of the eight common allergens and it’s lightly processed with no harsh chemicals, all while being the only non-GMO pea protein grown and manufactured in the U.S.” World Food Processing's state-of-the-art facilities are certified organic and all located in the USA.
